چکیده

We study Legendrian singularities arising in complex contact geometry. We define a one-parameter family of bases in the ring of Legendrian characteristic classes such that any Legendrian Thom polynomial has nonnegative coefficients when expanded in these bases. The method uses a suitable Lagrange Grassmann bundle on the product of projective spaces. This is an extension of a nonnegativity result for Lagrangian Thom polynomials obtained by the authors previously. For a fixed specialization, other specializations of the parameter lead to upper bounds for the coefficients of the given basis. One gets also upper bounds of the coefficients from the positivity of classical Thom polynomials (of singularities of mappings), obtained previously by the last two authors. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. 05E05, 14C17, 14N15, 55R40, 57R45.

Thom polynomials of invariant cones , Schur functions , and positivity

We generalize the notion of Thom polynomials from singularities of maps between two complex manifolds to invariant cones in representations, and collections of vector bundles. We prove that the generalized Thom polynomials, expanded in the products of Schur functions of the bundles, have nonnegative coefficients. For classical Thom polynomials associated with maps of complex manifolds, this giv...

Positivity of Schur function expansions of Thom polynomials

Combining the approach to Thom polynomials via classifying spaces of singularities with the Fulton-Lazarsfeld theory of cone classes and positive polynomials for ample vector bundles, we show that the coefficients of the Schur function expansions of the Thom polynomials of stable singularities are nonnegative with positive sum.

6 S ep 2 00 9 Positivity of Thom polynomials II : the Lagrange singularities

We study Thom polynomials associated with Lagrange singularities. We expand them in the basis of Q̃-functions. This basis plays a key role in the Schubert calculus of isotropic Grassmannians. We prove that the Q̃-function expansions of Thom polynomials of Lagrange singularities have always nonnegative coefficients. This is an analog of a result on Thom polynomials of mapping singularities and Sch...

Legendrian Solid-torus Links

Differential graded algebra invariants are constructed for Legendrian links in the 1-jet space of the circle. In parallel to the theory for R, Poincaré–Chekanov polynomials and characteristic algebras can be associated to such links. The theory is applied to distinguish various knots, as well as links that are closures of Legendrian versions of rational tangles. For a large number of two-compon...

Generating family invariants for Legendrian links of unknots

Theory is developed for linear-quadratic at infinity generating families for Legendrian knots in R3 . It is shown that the unknot with maximal Thurston–Bennequin invariant of −1 has a unique linear-quadratic at infinity generating family, up to fiber-preserving diffeomorphism and stabilization. From this, invariant generating family polynomials are constructed for 2–component Legendrian links w...
